![]() Many other fighters do have Master Hand as their final boss. I should’ve known right off the bat but I’m used to Smash bosses being vulnerable everywhere Ganon can only be damaged at his tail. He’s massive, has two huge swords, and lots of charging and sword swipe attacks. …and he transforms into Ganon! Specifically, Ocarina of Time Ganon. Then she gets to the end and Ganondorf is her final boss. I expected Master Hand was everyone’s final battle. Her Classic is called “Wisdom Prevails.” She goes against villains on Zelda battlegrounds, including Bowser, Dark Samus, and four Dark Links. For example, Zelda was the first fighter I chose. For this one they personalized Classic Mode for the fighter you choose. As usual, Classic Mode has you pick a fighter and go through several fights culminating with a final boss. ![]() I really like what they did with Classic Mode in this iteration. My favorites remain mostly unchanged: Link, Marth/Roy/Chrom/Lucina, Robin, Mega Man, and Cloud. Yoshi’s Final Smash is now hilarious: the target is put in a Lion King like valley and gets trampled by dozens of Yoshis. Ganondorf now gets a big sword to swing around in his smash attacks that I don’t think he’s had yet in a Zelda game. ![]() There are now three Links (adult, young, and toon). Zelda is styled after A Link Between Worlds and I love that that game got some representation. Link takes his Breath of the Wild style including now having Remote Bombs, which I thought was a cool touch. Of the completely new fighters Simon is the one I’m best with. His attacks with the whip are kind of slow but powerful and with some range. Not a big fan of that series but appreciate it as a classic. Simon – Castlevania gets some representation. His Final Smash has him chuck the target into Donkey Kong’s home which he then blows up with a laser cannon. Humorously, if he misses others can picks up his crown a chuck it. He has a slow cannon ball and can throw his crown. Rool fights a lot like his fight in Donkey Kong Country 1. His Final Smash has him grab and plaster the victim onto Samus’s ship and then let loose his breath weapon to blow the ship up. Humorously, my first match with him I failed to control his lunge twice and self-KO’d. He’s been fun to play as but not the best for me to win with. He’s a big dragon monster and gets his signatures moves: fire breath, a tail stab, and a grab-and-drag. While Fire Emblem already had a whole squad of representation Ridley comes in to add to Metroid’s count. Some were rebranded as “echoes,” the same as a different fighter but with a different skin and maybe a few other differences. This is what generates a lot of the buzz, right? Ultimate brought back every fighter Smash has had. The game theme, Lifelight, is pretty amazing too. It’s been too long since I’ve played Melee to make that comparison. It’s definitely closer to 4 than to Brawl. Ultimate seems pretty similar to Smash 4 to me. The Smash games are pretty similar to each other but of course there are some differences. Besides that, since Smash has a heavy multiplayer aspect getting it early helps spawn additional multiplayer opportunities. Nevertheless, this is now the second game of the series I pre-ordered for release day. While I enjoy the Smash series I generally don’t pick this series as one of my favorites. This one’s hot off the presses, released a couple weeks ago.
